Kruger Park & Private Lodges

Greater Kruger National Park, is joint venture between the Kruger National Park and the Associated Private Nature Reserves. Together they have an area of more than 20.000.000 Ha (or more than 20.000 Km²), under their joint conservation. Associated Private Nature Reserves, (APNR), is an association of privately owned nature reserves bordering on the Kruger National Park. Collectively they represent 1,800 square kilometres (180,000 ha) of land dedicated to conservation. In June 1993 the fences between Kruger National Park and the APNR were removed. The following reserves are members of the APNR: Balule Private Game Reserve, Kapama Private Game Reserve, Klaserie Private Game Reserve, Timbavati Private Game Reserve, Thornybush Private Game Reserve, Sabi Sands Game Reserve and Umbabat Private Game Reserve.

Kruger National Park is one of the largest game reserves in Africa. It covers 19,485 square kilometres (7,523 sq mi) and extends 360 kilometres (220 mi) from north to south and 65 kilometres (40 mi) from east to west. In 2002, Kruger National Park, Gonarezhou National Park in Zimbabwe, and Limpopo National Park in Mozambique were incorporated into the a peace park, the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park. The Kruger Park varies in altitude between 200 m in the east and 840 m in the south-west near Berg-en-Dal. The climate of the Kruger National Park and Lowveld is subtropical. Summer days are humid and hot with temperatures often soaring to above 38 °C (100 °F). The rainy season is from September until May. The dry winter season is the ideal time to visit this region for various reasons. There is less chance of contracting malaria and the days are milder. Viewing wildlife is more rewarding as the vegetation is sparser and animals are drawn to the waterholes to drink every morning and evening. Luxury lodge in the northernmost part of Kruger National Park

The Outpost lies in a vast wilderness area in the northernmost part of Kruger National Park. This region, called the Makuleke Region, is bordered to the north by the Limpopo River and Zimbabwe and to the east by Crooks Corner and Mozambique. Using simple, clean lines and combining elements of steel, concrete and open space, the unashamedly contemporary design of The Outpost emphasises its beautiful surrounds but blends and preserves the wilderness that is its home.

Accommodation
The Outpost comprises one large main building and twelve stand-alone living spaces set on the side of a hill overlooking the Luvuvhu River, all connected by a half kilometre long walkway made of Zimbabwean teak. The contemporary design of each Space makes use of concrete and steel with retractable canvas sliders, which open to afford a 180-degree view of the Luvuvhu River valley. The living area of each Space comprises an outdoor terrace with daybed, indoor lounge and bedroom with king size bed under mosquito netting, as well as an en-suite bathroom with award-winning bath and shower. Goose down duvets add a touch of luxury to your comfort. Despite its remote location, The Outpost strives to provide excellent cuisine. Our style of food draws from its African surroundings and care is taken to source the best produce. Please advise us beforehand of any special dietary requirements so that we are able to meet these during your stay. The Outpost offers a variety of places to dine. Breakfast is served under cover in the dining area in the main building with views of the Luvuvhu River Valley. Lunch is served in the dining area and dinner is either eaten in the enclosed courtyard under the stars or on the deck next to the pool.

Bush cuisine
Despite its remote location, The Outpost strives to provide excellent cuisine. Our style of food draws from its African surroundings and care is taken to source the best produce whether available locally or whether it is flown in fresh from Johannesburg. Please advise us beforehand of any special dietary requirements so that we are able to meet these during your stay. The Outpost offers a variety of places to dine. Breakfast is served under cover in the dining area in the main building with views of the Luvuvhu River Valley. Lunch is either served in the dining area or a picnic lunch is prepared and served out on safari at the riverside or under the Baobabs. Dinner is either eaten in the enclosed courtyard under the stars or on the deck next to the pool.

Weddings
The Outpost provides an ideal location for your intimate wedding in our African wilderness. There are a number of beautiful areas within the concession from which you can choose the perfect location. We can arrange all aspects of your wedding including legal requirements, ministers, photographers, flowers, choirs and the like. Public areas
On arrival guests are welcomed into the main building and are treated to the openness and extensive views that embody The Outpost. The modern bar is a focal point and defines the lounge and dining areas. The lounge is flanked by a large bookcase with an extensive and varied selection of books. This area leads off to the swimming pool deck with large lap pool.
