Tshukudu Game Lodge

Tshukudu is the Sotho word for Rhino. Just west of the Kruger Park, this lodge offers chalets, rondavels and safari tents to guests who are free to roam this 5000 ha area filled with lion, leopard, cheetah, giraffe, kudu, zebra and white rhino.  The Sussens family has devoted over 25 years developing their 5000-hectare private reserve as a true wild haven.  Close to Hoedspruit the reserve boasts the Big Five, where previously there had been nothing.  The first animals to be re-introduced to the property were white rhino, hence the name Tshukudu, meaning rhino in Sotho.

Rooms at The Lodge can accommodate up to 30 people in 14 rooms. All rooms enjoy a view of the beautiful Drakensberg mountain range from the privacy of your own veranda.  Each room has en-suite bathrooms ensuring the best facilities and comfort is right at your fingertips.  Your comfort and relaxation are well-catered for;  accommodation is in charming, en-suite thatched cottages. Relax around the pool and recount your experiences over the delicious meals.  Tshukudu has facilities and accommodation for people in wheelchairs.

Tshukudu staff focus their expert leadership to track and spot the abundant game, while at the same time passing on their knowledge of wildlife to their guests. Tshukudu is a true pioneer in the game-industry and has been very successful in its lion-breeding project that has introduced lion to game reserves all over South Africa.

A short distance away from the main lodge is a luxury tented camp - renovations are underway - more details upon request.
